Insurance & Injury Policy
Purpose
This policy outlines Urban Rec's insurance arrangements, participant responsibilities and the process for reporting injuries that occur during Urban Rec activities.
Urban Rec Insurance
Urban Rec maintains insurance policies appropriate to the operation of a social sports club, including Public Liability Insurance and other business-related insurances as required.
These policies are designed to protect Urban Rec in relation to its operations and legal obligations.
They are not personal accident, injury, health, income protection or life insurance policies for participants.
Personal Injury Insurance
Urban Rec does not provide personal accident or injury insurance for participants.
If you are injured while participating in an Urban Rec activity, you should not assume that you are covered by insurance through your registration, membership or waiver.
Participants are responsible for assessing their own insurance needs and arranging any personal cover they consider appropriate.
This may include:
- Private health insurance.
- Personal accident insurance.
- Income protection insurance.
- Life or trauma insurance.
Participation in Urban Rec activities is voluntary and undertaken at your own risk.
Participant Responsibility
All participants are required to complete the Urban Rec Club Waiver before participating in any league, tournament or event.
Participants are responsible for:
- Assessing their own fitness and ability to participate.
- Playing within their physical limits.
- Managing their own health and wellbeing.
- Providing and deciding what protective equipment is appropriate for their own circumstances.
- Making decisions about any insurance coverage they may require.
If at any time you feel unwell, injured or unsafe, you should stop participating and seek appropriate assistance.
No participant should feel pressured to continue playing if they believe it may place their health or safety at risk.
Reporting Injuries
If an injury occurs during an Urban Rec activity, participants should notify the League Host or Urban Rec representative as soon as reasonably possible.
Urban Rec may:
- Record details of the incident.
- Provide basic first aid supplies where available.
- Contact emergency services if required.
- Conduct an incident review where appropriate.
Reporting an injury does not automatically create an insurance claim or imply acceptance of liability by Urban Rec.
Optional Personal Accident Insurance
Urban Rec may partner with third-party providers that offer optional personal accident insurance products for participants.
Any insurance policy purchased through a third-party provider is a separate agreement between the participant and the insurer.
Participants should carefully review the Product Disclosure Statement (PDS), Target Market Determination (TMD) and any other policy documentation before purchasing insurance.
Urban Rec does not administer, manage or guarantee third-party insurance products.
