Individual Registrations Policy
Purpose
Urban Rec offers individual registrations for participants who would like to join a league without registering a full team.
This policy explains how individual teams are formed, managed and supported throughout the season.
Registering as an Individual
Registering as an individual is simple.
Sign up for your chosen league and Urban Rec will place you into a team with other individual participants.
Individual teams are a great way to:
- Meet new people.
- Try a new sport.
- Join a league without organising a full team.
- Connect with other members of the Urban Rec community.
Forming Individual Teams
Urban Rec will create an individual team once enough registrations have been received to form a viable roster.
Where appropriate, Urban Rec may commence a season with a partially completed roster and continue recruiting additional players during the opening weeks of the competition.
Urban Rec reserves the right to:
- Add players to a team.
- Reallocate players between individual teams.
- Adjust roster sizes.
- Make other reasonable changes necessary to ensure teams remain viable and competitive.
Team Composition
Urban Rec will allocate players to teams based on registration information and league requirements.
Where a sport has gender ratio requirements, Urban Rec will make reasonable efforts to ensure individual teams meet the required gender allocations.
However, team composition will ultimately depend on registration numbers and participant availability.
If Urban Rec is unable to form a viable individual team, participants may be offered:
- A place in an alternative league or division;
- A transfer to another Urban Rec competition;
- An Urban Rec credit; or
- A refund,
in accordance with the Refund, Credit & Withdrawal Policy.
Registering with Friends
Participants who wish to play with friends should register as early as possible and advise Urban Rec at the time of registration.
While we will always do our best to accommodate requests, placement together cannot be guaranteed.
Individual teams may have additional players added throughout the season to maintain roster viability.
Once Your Team Is Formed
Once an individual team has been established, it operates like any other Urban Rec team.
The team will nominate a captain and become responsible for:
- Communicating with teammates.
- Managing attendance.
- Organising substitute players when required.
- Notifying Urban Rec of any ongoing roster concerns.
If your team is experiencing attendance issues, player shortages or participation concerns, you should notify Urban Rec as soon as reasonably possible so that we can assist where appropriate.
While Urban Rec may assist individual teams from time to time, individual teams are ultimately responsible for maintaining a viable roster throughout the season.
Team Captains
Individual teams will typically nominate a captain to act as the primary point of contact between the team and Urban Rec.
The captain is responsible for assisting with communication, attendance tracking and general team administration.
Urban Rec reserves the right to appoint, replace or remove a team captain where reasonably necessary to support team administration, team viability or member experience.
Inactive Players
If a participant fails to attend games during the opening weeks of a season and does not communicate with Urban Rec or their teammates, Urban Rec may remove and replace that participant to support the viability of the team.
Any such decision will be made at Urban Rec's discretion and in accordance with the Refund, Credit & Withdrawal Policy.
Privacy & Participant Information
Urban Rec may share limited contact information between teammates where reasonably necessary to facilitate participation and team communication.
Urban Rec will not disclose personal information beyond what is reasonably required for team administration and will never sell participant information to third parties.
Participants should respect the privacy of their teammates and should not share personal information without consent.
Community Expectations
Individual teams bring together people who may not know one another prior to the season.
Participants are expected to:
- Treat teammates respectfully.
- Communicate appropriately.
- Be welcoming and inclusive.
- Respect personal boundaries.
- Follow Urban Rec's Code of Conduct and Fun First values.
While Urban Rec works hard to create positive experiences, we cannot guarantee personal compatibility, friendships or ongoing participation by other team members.
